  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work or Bachelor’s Degree in Child and Youth Care; or equivalent Bachelor or Master’s degree in the social sciences (e.g., Masters of Counselling, Masters of Ed. Counselling, Masters of Clinical Psychology).
  • A minimum of four or more years’ experience in child protection and/or protective family services.
  • Must have C6 Child Welfare Delegation.

The Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) promotes and develops the capacity of families and communities to care for and protect vulnerable children and youth, and supports healthy child and family development to maximize the potential of every child in B.C.

As Team Leader you supervise a multi-disciplinary community Child and Family team that deliver statutory MCFD services to Fort St James and the surrounding communities.

  • Your duties will include supervision of staff who provide a variety of MCFD services and may include Child Protection and Guardianship.
  • Results and detailed oriented, you ensure integrated case management practices are current and meet required service levels and standards, and provide leadership, support and professional development activities to your team improving professional and integrated services delivery.
  • Employing superior collaborative skills, you establish productive working relationships with community partners and provincial, federal and non-governmental agencies, and act as a liaison and participate on internal and external committees as designated by the Community Services Manager.
  • The ideal candidate for this key role will have experience delivering services in small, rural communities and knowledge of M├ętis and First Nations culture.
