Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Instructor

Wages:

$56,537.00 - $70,463.00 annually, depending on qualifications and experience as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. We offer a competitive benefit package; College Pension Plan enrollment; 240 hours of vacation time per year – front loaded and pro-rated; and annual increments up to a maximum of $88,352.00 annually.

Qualifications:
  • Applicants must hold a valid Canadian AME license, Category M1/M2 or E rating, with a minimum of five years licensed experience (preference will be given to those with more than 5 years as an AME holder).
  • Basic computer skills such as word processing, internet usage and email are essential.

All applications will be reviewed with preference given to applicants having experience in one or more of the following:

  • Experience or education in the delivery of post-secondary instruction, either in adult or high school environments in aviation;
  • Fixed wing background or experience on King Air, Cessna, or Jetstream would be an asset. General aviation experience considered;
  • Advanced avionics such as Airbus 320 family, Boeing 777 avionics systems etc. and field maintenance experience with fundamental avionics systems;
  • Roto experience in Bell 204/205/206/ or AS350; and
  • Provincial Instructors Diploma or Equivalent.

Qualifications:

Qualifications for this role include:

  • Secondary School graduation or equivalent and a minimum of five years’ related experience; OR,
  • Diploma from a recognized Institute of Technology in a related field of study and a minimum of 3 years’ related experience; OR,
  • University or college degree in a related field of study and one year of related experience; OR,
  • Professional Engineer and one year of related experience.

Additional Requirements:

  • Valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence in good standing.
  • Successful completion of the Area Manager Roads certification program.
    NOTE: The Area Manager Certificate of Completion through BCIT (or another technical institution) is required to be appointed to the AO 24 level.  Successful applicants who have not received a certificate of completion must complete the certificate within one year and will be under-implemented at the AO 21 level until completion.
Duties:

The Cariboo District Team is seeking a new member for the role of Area Manager, Roads in the beautiful city of Quesnel.  If you have a background in road maintenance, construction or bridges, enjoy interacting with people and being a member of a positive team, you’ll want to take advantage of this opportunity.

The primary function of the District is to ensure the safe and efficient movement of goods, services and people in a given geographic area.  The District administers the road and bridge maintenance contracts, provincially totalling $320 million annually, portions of the rehabilitation program, development approvals and support for the provincial capital program.  The operations of each District support the growth and development of the provincial economy.  District operations are a direct link between the ministry and the public/stakeholders providing a key transportation link in a multi-modal environment.

The Area Manager, Roads will identify overall program priorities and to ensure the preservation and improvement of the road infrastructure for the safety and convenience of the travelling public. In unison with the Operations Manager, the Area Manager acts as the local ministry representative with stakeholders on highway operations related issues and customer service delivery within their assigned area.
