Salary $56,380.02 - $70,418.15 annually (effective February 4, 2018), plus $38.87 Bi-Weekly Isolation Allowance for Fort St James

Qualifications:

Lesser qualified applicants may be considered at a lower classification.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • A Registered Professional Forester (RPF), or be eligible for registration as an RPF with the Association of BC Forest Professionals (ABCFP) and two years (gained within the last five years) of experience in operational forestry such as strategic or operational planning, forest tenures, cut-block and road development, engineering, silviculture, harvest operations or compliance and enforcement.
  • Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
  • Preference may be given to those applicants with directly related planning and integrated resource management experience.
Duties:

2 positions available in Vanderhoof, although one could be placed in Fort St. James if required.

The Planning Forester analyzes and produces a wide range of data to develop integrated resource plans, primarily through a Forest Stewardship Plan (FSP) and subsequent operating plans (including block design). The position develops and implements results and strategies to meet the FSP and ensures planning components meet legislative, operating, and certification requirements. The position provides functional direction to field team professionals and technicians with expertise in timber development, harvesting, engineering and silviculture. The position builds and maintains relationships with representatives from First Nations, resource stakeholders, Ministry and industry contacts.
