Multiple full-time positions available at Correctional Centres located in the Lower Mainland, Kamloops, Prince George, Victoria and Nanaimo.

As a Correctional Officer, you will rotate through various posts and departments. With leadership from department supervisors, you will be responsible for maintaining security, safety, good order, discipline and care of adult inmates by providing orientation, direction, guidance and programming. The focus is on engaging inmates in a pro-social environment that provides maximum opportunity for change in a setting that is productive and supportive and where they are treated in a respectful, fair and equitable manner.

Powerline Tech

Qualifications:

The Powerline Tech job in Northern, BC is a six-month contract with our client.

  • The successful candidate will have a proven record of successfully executed construction projects of a variety of sizes, experience managing contractors, and a proven commitment to safety.
  • Local candidates will be given preference or relocation to the area for the duration of the contract is required.

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Journeymen Powerline Technician Certification.
  • Competent with reading blueprint drawings, work protection codes, overhead, underground work practices and standards.
  • Strong leadership skills, high priority for safety, display professional ethics.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in adverse conditions such as: heat exposure, cold temperatures, rain, snow etc.
  • Physically capable of meeting the job requirements; ability to lift up to fifty (50) pounds, ability to bend, stoop, kneel, and climb safely.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Duties:
  • Review the client drawings and powerline specifications for the project.
  • Set and install powerline poles on the various sites.
  • Tie-in the existing lines to the new ones.
  • Conducting work inside the elevated bucket and ensuring all harness protection is in place and used appropriately.
  • Participate in the pre-injury plan and pre-job hazard assessment and control procedures during the daily hazard meeting on the worksite.
  • Check all climbing gear and equipment prior to ascending the powerline poles and entry into the bucket.
  • Complete communication while working at heights and with other employees to ensure that all phases are understood and followed precisely.
  • Complete HSE documentation and reports as required and perform regular equipment checks and vehicle mechanical assessments prior to mobilizing the worksites.
  • Framing poles.
  • Terminating the powerlines as required.
  • Must be able to communicate with other site staff for maintenance and repairs on all equipment.
  • Assisting with worksite cleanup.
