Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thoroughly familiar with the contents of the Health Safety Management Plan and the federal, provincial, local and contractual requirements upon which it is based.
  • Knowledge of, and qualified in mine rescue operations.
  • Strong understanding of tunnel layout and underground specifics.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work efficiently.
  • Demonstrated ability to use sound judgment to compile information, identify issues, take appropriate action, or involve others as necessary.
  • Flexibility to adapt to all situations and work varied hours.

Experience/ Qualifications

  • CSO or NCSO designation.
  • 6 years hands-on Safety experience in the construction industry.
  • Experience working in a large underground mining or tunnelling operation in the province of British Columbia.
  • British Columbia Mine Rescue certification.
  • At least one year of experience in a health and safety role in the province of British Columbia within the last 3 years.

The Tunnel Emergency Response Coordinator will manage all aspects of emergency preparedness and Health & Safety for our Drainage and Diversion Tunnel Teams.
