Duties:

Reporting to the Regional Controller - the Financial Accountant will be responsible for a full range of operational, financial and management accounting reporting and analysis for Canfor’s manufacturing facilities in Fort St John and Chetwynd. This is a developmental role in which the successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain experience in various facets of accounting. This may include working with and providing coverage for Divisional Accountants as needed.

The Financial Accountant's primary focus is to provide the operations management team with relevant financial and statistical analysis and information, and to participate in value-added decision support. Duties will consist of assisting the Divisional Accountants in the areas of manufacturing operations including Accounts Payable and Payroll review. In addition, the successful candidate will be responsible for the timely completion of financial closes, through to the generation of weekly costing reports, forecasting, capital processes and monthly financial statements. Occasional travel between the operations is required.

$36.24 - $45.17/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary staff receive an additional $0.50/hr in lieu of benefits; 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay, with each pay period.

Qualifications:
  • The successful candidate will have extensive practical knowledge and experience in all aspects of natural gas processing.
  • The individual must have a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
  • The candidate must be self-motivated, possess excellent organizational and communication skills and be effective working in a team environment. 
  • Experience teaching adults, or teaching qualifications would be an asset. 
  • Must be familiar with industry/government safety codes and current environmental practices.

Northern Lights College is seeking an instructor to teach levels of the Gas Process Operations (GPO) component of our Power Engineering Program.  The focus of the program is to provide students with the practical skills needed to function effectively in the industry. This program is driven by the needs of the oil, gas, pulping, and other industries requiring 4th Class Power Engineer certification.
