Duties:
  • Ensure Quality Control and Safety Procedures are being followed and mentor team members to do the same.
  • Familiarizing yourself with the scope of work and assist in ensuring Regulatory, Company and Client specifications and requirements are being met, documented, implemented and tracked. 
  • Work closely with the Project Team and Tradesmen and mentor them in Quality Procedures and Quality Form completion. 
  • Populate, Receive, Submit, Verify and Track all steps during the project and ensure that all QC related documentation is accurate and ensure that progressive reviewing and sign off of QC related documentation and forms happen in a timely fashion.
  • Liaison between QC Department, Technical Safety BC, ABSA, CWB, Client and Project Team on a QC related level.
  • Assist in preparing project documentation, ordering/receiving/verifying materials, booking 3rd party testing, reviewing documentation and ensuring regulatory, Company and Client compliance.
  • Prepare and monitor ITPs for Vessels, Piping & Structural welding projects.
  • Visual Inspections of exchangers, towers, tanks, piping, structural, flange faces, PSVs, tube bundles, and PVRVs.
  • Prepare Pressure Test packages and witness Pressure Tests.
  • Complete Redlines/As-Built Drawings.
  • Co-ordinate third party activities, prepare Instruction Sheets, review and verify reports, and complete mapping for construction/repair activities:
    • NDE
    • PWHT/Bake-out/Hardness Testing
    • Pressure Testing
    • Coating
    • Heat Trace
    • Insulation
  • Review Torque Reports and Mapping.
  • Control, maintain, issue and document Welding Electrode Consumables.
  • Work closely with Project Team and QC Manager to ensure compliance.
  • Report NCRs to QC Manager and Project Manager and assist in documenting and applying corrective measures.
  • Be open to “mentoring” and “On the Job” training opportunities.
  • Lead by example.
  • Entry of Welding & QC stats into CRM.

Qualifications:

In addition to being physically fit, highly motivated, and able to perform strenuous physical labour in extreme conditions with a variety of tools and equipment, applicants must also detail how they meet the following requirements in their application:

  • Secondary school graduation or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Valid First Aid Ticket OFA Level 1 with Transportation Endorsement (minimum); or, contact information of first aid training provider for verification of enrolment to be completed before the first day of the Boot Camp (end of April).

The majority of fire crews begin work in late April or early May and work until the end of August. Some crews remain working into September, or even into October, depending on fire conditions and activity. Our fire crews usually work regular hours during the hottest part of the day, 10:30 to 18:30, when fires are most likely to start. The normal work shift is seven hours per day and 35 hours per week. A fire fighter is guaranteed a 3-5 month work term depending on location of employment and fire activity.
