Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Thorough knowledge of contract language, claim process and legal requirements of construction contracts.
  • Ability to review major complex bespoke contracts in the civil engineering sector to identify and communicate risks and mitigation strategies to project and commercial teams.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to successfully operate in multiple environments at the same time.

Experience/ Qualifications

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with major contractors in roles dealing with management of project change procedures, cost management, claims and variations, negotiation and settlement of disputes with owners.
  • International major contractors experience in joint venture environments preferred.
  • Experience operating at a senior level on a major project, liaising with executive team and directors.
  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
  • MRICS/MCIOB/MCIArb professional qualifications desirable.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
Duties:

A Prime Contract Manager is sought to be responsible for the commercial and client contract management of a large scale heavy civils project during the project construction phase in Northern British Columbia. The individual must have the ability to operate and manage at both the site and executive level of the Project structure, in a Joint Venture environment.

Classification 14, $45,036.39 - $46,429.27 annually, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Annual vacation (119 hours) is pro-rated and front loaded.  We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits, as well as cover the basic medical services plan fees.  Support Collective Agreement includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves.  Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 - Jan 1st) of each year is paid time off.

Qualifications:

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience servicing and maintaining, Windows OS and Windows Server systems.
  • Knowledge and hands on experience with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Exchange, Outlook and Outlook Web Access, mobile devices and SAN storage.
  • Experience in administration of telephone systems, including analog, digital, VOIP, and cellular.
  • Comptia A+ certification or equivalent combination of skills and experience

Desired Skills:

  • Intermediate level knowledge of networking including, subnetting, vLans, data security, and firewalls.
  • Knowledge of video conferencing technologies.
  • Experience and knowledge with Apple operating systems.
  • Experience with networked imaging (Print / Copy / Scan / Fax).
  • Intermediate or advanced technical certifications.

Duties:

The successful candidate will assist the Chief Information Officer to accomplish the broader goal of providing quality support and administration on various software, hardware, information management systems and computer network related areas for all students and staff.

  • The Intermediate IT Technicians work directly and indirectly with students, faculty, and staff to provide troubleshooting, maintenance; repair, training, and support of network (video conferencing, telephony, imaging, desktop, mobile, storage, server hardware and software, and information management systems at an intermediate support level.
  • They provide assistance in project planning and management for information technology related projects, deployments and upgrades.
  • This position will also provide support to other Information Technology department staff as required.
