Job Title:

Intermediate/Senior Environmental Professional

Qualifications:

As this position warrants travel throughout Western Canada, a Canadian Driver’s License is required.

Preferred Talents

  • Education in natural sciences, biology, forestry or similar discipline.
  • Registered or eligible to be registered as a member of an environmental professional association (e.g. BCIA/AIA, ASTTBC, ASPB/CAB, ECO Canada, etc.)
  • Willing to work long-hours and weekends outdoors in inclement weather.
  • Strong technical report writing skills.
  • Knowledge of BC and/or Alberta environmental and oil and gas legislation.
  • 1 to 5+ years’ field experience in soil and water sampling, vegetation identification, construction/reclamation supervision, contaminated sites, drilling waste, spills and/or biological assessments (compensation and position title in relation to experience).
  • Experience on ATVs/UTVs/snowmobiles and navigating the oilpatch or backcountry.
Duties:

This role is based out of the Fort St. John, BC office.

You would work with other environmental professionals, project managers and team leads as well as industry representatives to complete soil and vegetation assessments, supervise reclamation and remediation, sample water and complete other fieldwork-based assessments and supervision as needed.

Post-data collection, you would write technical reports of your findings, applicable to the appropriate legislation (BC or Alberta), as well as review technical reports, manage client deliverables and expectations, coordinate fieldwork and projects and train/mentor junior staff.

  • Willing to work long, physically demanding hours and weekends in inclement weather.
  • Safety-minded.
  • Interest in natural sciences an asset.
  • Experience on ATVs/UTVs/snowmobiles and/or navigating the backcountry also an asset, but not mandatory.
  • Previous experience working outside or in the oilpatch is an asset, but also not mandatory.
Duties:

Based out of the Fort St. John, BC office, you would be working outside with other environmental professionals, project managers and team leads, to assist in the completion of environmental assessments, labour and sampling as needed.
