  • Proven experience to prepare clear, concise documents, reports and correspondence for management on a wide range of issues using various pieces of software.
  • Proven ability to exercise judgment and sensitivity in complex and politically sensitive issues.
  • Ability to meet and represent the Commission with members of the public, industry officials, government officials, First Nations, others.
Duties:

The Groundwater Assessment Specialist provides technical support to the Commission’s Statutory Decision Makers, Compliance and Enforcement, and Engineering staff and provides experienced technical expertise and support to other Commission staff, applicants and other stakeholders.

The position provides groundwater expertise to support the review of waste management and water-related applications, and the review of hydrogeological or environmental (soil and groundwater) assessment data and reports.

Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in biology, natural resource management or related field and a minimum of 4 years’ experience in habitat management, wildlife biology, cumulative effects analysis and management; or
  • Bachelor’s degree in biology, natural resource management or related field and a minimum of 6 years’ experience and progressively responsible experience with complex natural resource management or environmental policy, or broad-level program management.
  • Member of the Association of Professional Biologists of British Columbia (RPBio) or eligible for certification.
  • Proven technical and operational experience and knowledge of the components of land and resource management policy, planning, systems and analysis used in British Columbia.

Duties:

The Manager, Aquatic & Terrestrial Habitat provides expert technical advice and support to staff, applicants and other stakeholders in the areas of the aquatic and terrestrial habitat impacts of oil and gas development.

The position provides and develops environmental strategies and tactics as it relates to proposed oil and gas activities, ongoing cumulative effects initiatives and directs and analyzes environmental reviews and impact assessments across various regions of the province.

This is the Commission’s aquatic and terrestrial habitat expert and as such provides direction, assistance and specialized professional expertise related to habitat impacts, species at risk, and assessment methods to government staff, industry, consultants and the public.
