Duties:

In accordance with Northern Health’s vision of an idealized system of services where people and their families receive primary care services in Primary Care Homes supported by interprofessional teams, the Primary Care Mental Health and Addictions (MHA) Clinician functions as a member of the interprofessional team and applies best practices to provide competent, safe and ethical care for people and their families in settings such as physician practices, homes, schools and communities.

Through assessment and involvement of each person and their family, the Primary Care MHA Clinician develops and implements a plan of care and intervention to assist the person in managing their mental health or addiction challenges. The Primary Care MHA Clinician will provide care according to the person’s care plan and the person’s personal goals.

Qualifications:

Duties:

Reporting to the respective HSDA Regional Manager, Records Management, ROI & Registration Services, the HIM Advisor is an integral member of both the regional Health Information Management team and the local health service delivery team.

  • The HIM Advisor provides leadership to their community(ies) on appropriate collection, access and use of health information through the development and application of health information standards in records management, release of information and registration utilizing technology available for distance communications as well as face to face visits when appropriate.
  • They support and participate in the evaluation of adherence to HIM standards.
  • The HIM Advisor assists in the development, testing, implementation support, maintenance and enhancement of relevant health information systems/applications and provides support and training services for a variety of internal and external users.

Duties:

The Clinical Specialist role is responsible to the Manager or Designate of the Inter-Professional Team.

  • In keeping with Best Practices this role includes Mental Health and Addiction education and training to support effective clinical practice in multiple settings in the community, as well as comprehensive Mental Health and Addiction assessment, crises intervention and follow-up services to clients and identified supports as required.
  • The position provides clinical direction and services to at risk persons and their identified supports referred to mental health and addictions within their geographic area of responsibility.
  • She/he functions in a education and consultation role in response to the needs of health care providers, family physicians, community agencies, families & clients, and other team members on mental health issues.
  • The role is defined by the needs of the professional expectations, agency expectations, population demands, the provision of programs and the goals for professional practice.
