Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years’ experience in HVAC with Plumber/gas fitting certificate (equivalent experience in the field may be considered).

  • Preference will be given to those who hold the above certificates and experience, as well as a Power Engineer certificate.
  • Experience with biomass boiler system would be an asset.
  • Experience in a maintenance function is essential.

Duties:

The duties will be to carry out preventive maintenance and servicing for campus heating, ventilation, and plumbing, refrigeration and hot water systems in order to maintain continuous function. Will also be required to perform maintenance work on buildings, grounds and equipment, must be capable of operating mobile equipment such as tractors, loaders and forklifts. This position may be based out of either Fort St John or Dawson Creek, but would be expected to travel to surrounding NLC campuses when the need arises.

Those in this position are expected to work independently, as well as to be an effective team member, contributing to the overall dynamics of the Facilities Department.  Utilizing excellent troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to work in confined spaces and to have height tolerance, are expected in the day to day tasks of the work.

Qualifications:
  • The preferred educational qualification is a Master’s Degree in a relevant field such as Environmental Science, Hydrology, or Resource Management.  Related education at the baccalaureate level is an asset. 
  • Preference will be given to applicants with work experience or education related to freshwater management. 
  • Knowledge of the oil and gas sector is an asset.
