Duties:

Northern Metalic Sales (F.S.J.) Ltd: a major supplier to the resource sector of Northern BC providing manufacturing goods such as cables, rigging, specialized power and hand tools, fastener, safety supplies, hydraulic hoses and fittings, environmental products, janitorial supplies, material handling accessories, tire chains and lubricants, paint, and other miscellaneous products and services. Northern Metalic Hose & Rigging is currently accepting applications for a full time person to start as soon as possible.

Duties are to include but are not limited to:

  • Assemble and pressure test fluid transfer hoses.
  • Assemble hydraulic hose assemblies.
  • To maintain a good working relation with warehouse and counter sales.
  • To follow policies and procedures.
  • Operate various forklifts.
  • Other responsibilities as authorized or requested Store Manager.

Job Title:

Yard Labourer

Qualifications:
  • Friendly, helpful communication and cooperative attitude towards customers and coworkers.
  • Must be able to take and follow directions.
  • Must have good organizational skills and be self-motivated.
  • Good comprehension of written and printed materials, and arithmetic to verify orders, invoices, etc.
Duties:

A yard labourer maintains the day-to-day operations of the lumberyard. They load and unload materials, store them in proper locations. They use various pieces of equipment including pallet jacks, lumber carts, etc. They must also greet and serve yard customers and, therefore, need to be familiar with inventory, returns and exchanges and all safety policies.

  • Identify and assist customers with advice, information, and/or help in gathering and loading orders.
  • Assist customers in handling large or heavy items.
  • Resolve customer complaints.
  • Load and unload materials.
  • Be familiar with the location(s) of all inventory and equipment.
  • Maintain maximum security in yard. Prevent loss and damage to merchandise in the yard.
  • Build special delivery orders when necessary.
  • Store materials in correct location in the yard.
  • Keep the yard clean and the inventory neat and orderly.
  • Restock lumber bins, sheds, etc. when they are depleted.
  • Minimize waste whenever possible.
  • Must safely operate equipment required for efficient yard operations, including lumber carts, forklifts, pallet jacks, banding machine, ladders, radial arm saw, etc.
  • Must be physically fit and able to move materials weighing up to 100 pounds.
  • Work on additional duties and assignments as assigned by supervisor and other members of management.
  • Work in a safe manner in accordance to provincial and federal safety and fire legislation, as well as use of good common sense. Report any potential hazards and unsafe behavior to supervisor or management in order to have the situation corrected.
