Job Title:

Senior Mechanical Services Worker

Wages:

Classification 17, $59,816.47 - $61,666.48 annually, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Vacation is pro-rated and front loaded. We offer competitive extended health and dental benefits, as well as cover the basic medical services plan fees. Support Collective Agreement includes time off for family illness, personal illness, and other special leaves. Closure during the Christmas Break (Dec 25 - Jan 1st) of each year is paid time off.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years' experience in HVAC with plumber/gas fitting certificate (equivalent experience in the field may be considered).

  • Having a knowledge of electrical and computer operated (reliable controls) DDC heating and cooling systems is required.

  • Preference will be given to those who hold the above certificates and experience, as well as a Power Engineer certificate.

  • Experience with biomass boiler system would be an asset.

  • Experience in a maintenance function is essential.

  • Must hold a minimum of a valid BC Class 7 Drivers License.

Duties:
  • The duties will be to carry out preventive maintenance and servicing for campus heating, ventilation, and plumbing, refrigeration and hot water systems in order to maintain continuous function.

  • Will also be required to perform maintenance work on buildings, grounds and equipment, must be capable of operating mobile equipment such as tractors, loaders and forklifts.

  • Those in this position are expected to work independently, as well as to be an effective team member, contributing to the overall dynamics of the Facilities Department.

  • Utilizing excellent troubleshooting skills, along with the ability to work in confined spaces and to have height tolerance, are expected in the day to day tasks of the work.

This position may be based out of either Fort St John or Dawson Creek, but would be expected to travel to surrounding NLC campuses when the need arises.
