Qualifications:

The Community Support Worker will have:

  • Two years experience in a supervised setting with a Diploma in Social Services, a Community Support Worker Certificate or a Residential Care Aide Certificate; or
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience in a supported employment or residential resource; and
  • All supervised settings to be in services to people with developmental disabilities.

The Community Support Worker must demonstrate:

  • Cultural, social and economic awareness;
  • Empathetic listening and support qualities;
  • Tact and diplomacy;
  • Sensitivity and a non-judgmental attitude;
  • Good boundaries and self care practices;

The Community Support Worker will require:

  • The ability to work with individuals with developmental disabilities and mental disorders;
  • The ability to manage high risk behaviours;
  • The ability to manage crisis situations;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

  • The ability to work independently and/or as part of a team;
  • The ability to work with people of diverse ages, cultures and personal situations;
  • Computer literacy in Excel, Word and email programs;
  • A valid Drivers License;
  • An Emergency First Aid and CPR Certificate;
  • A Medication Delivery Training Certificate;
  • A FoodSafe Certificate;
  • A Basic Skills Training Certificate;
  • A Suicide Prevention and Intervention Certificate;
  • CPI training; and
  • Diversity training.
Duties:

The Community Support Worker will be responsible for providing a smooth functioning program by:

  • Providing educational, vocational, social and recreational opportunities and training to an individual with developmental disabilities, mental health disorders and challenging behaviours; and
  • Encouraging progressive independence through programming, routines and consistent responses.

The City of Dawson Creek invites applications for a permanent part time Special Events Assistant/Water Slide Attendant guaranteed eight hours per week. 

Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, Aquatics Coordinator, or designate, the Special Events Assistant/Water Slide Attendant is responsible for the supervision of the water slide and change room checks. Special Events Assistant/Water Slide attendants may assist with special events such as birthday parties and other special events as operationally required.  The shifts will vary based on operational requirements and will be scheduled Monday through Sunday.

Qualifications for this role include:

  • 19 years or older
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada (B.C. Sheriff Services requires that you be a Canadian citizen or a Permanent Resident of Canada at the time you apply for this position)
  • Grade 12 graduation or equivalent*, as defined:
    • High school diploma (e.g. Dogwood Diploma B.C.); or

Duties:

Deputy Sheriffs provide security services to the Provincial, Supreme and Appeal Courts of British Columbia (43 court locations).

As a Deputy Sheriff, you are a provincial peace officer and work closely with different partners in the Justice System to ensure all levels of courts in the province are operating smoothly and safely. You will coordinate appearances, enforce court orders, execute arrest warrants, are involved in jury selection and sequestering, as well as provide for various document services.
