Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's Degree and 2 years directly related experience, or a Technical diploma and 3 years directly related experience in natural resource management, petroleum resources and/or law enforcement or a related discipline; or
  • Grade 12 plus post-secondary courses in natural resource management, petroleum resource management, and/or law enforcement and 5 years directly related experience;
  • There will be different combinations of relevant experience, education and/or training that would result in the person meeting the above standards.

Directly Related Experience Includes:

  • Experience in a position specializing in the compliance & enforcement of a broad legislative mandate, such as regulatory law enforcement.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated experience in the interpretation and application of enforcement of Provincial and Federal legislation.
  • Experience working within the criminal and administrative justice systems and procedures, case law and preparation of cases for those venues.
  • Experience in conducting investigations including exhaustive research and case preparation; interpreting the law as it applies to applicable legislation and interpreting policies, regulations and procedures.
  • Technical knowledge and experience working with environmental protection management (e.g. water use, waste management, stream classification), and oil and gas industry impact on the environment.
  • Experience conducting inspections related to oil and gas and/or environmental regulatory requirements.
Duties:

The Oil & Gas Operations Officer conducts inspections and investigations of all oil and gas industry operations to monitor for compliance and initiate enforcement of the Oil and Gas Activities Act (OGAA) and specified enactments and associated regulations, the Petroleum and Natural Gas Act, Mines Act, the Environmental Assessment Act, and other applicable legislation.

$60,453.00 - 71,807.00 annual starting wage, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement, with annual increments up to a maximum salary of $92,582.00. Faculty employees receive 240 hours of vacation annually, pro-rated and front-loaded, based on FTE, as well as time off paid between the Christmas and New Year’s Day period.  We offer an extremely competitive extended health and dental program, along with MSP (provincial health) coverage.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Master’s Degree (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in Early Care and Learning (or in a closely related field);
  • Instructional experience in a comparable or related post-secondary program;
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in a licensed Early Care and Learning Centre;
  • Early Childhood Education & Care (ECEC) Diploma (or equivalent) with Infant/Toddler and Special Needs Educator Certification from the BC ECE Registry (or proof of eligibility for certification);
  • Excellent communication and networking skills; and
  • A demonstrable commitment to engaging diverse learners through various forms of flexible, distance delivery (e.g., online - Desire2Learn, web or teleconferencing, etc.).

Preferred:

  • Post-secondary experience with Indigenous students;
  • Working knowledge of the BC Education Plan;
  • Membership in the Early Childhood Educators of BC;
  • BC Campus Facilitating Online Learning (FLO) workshop (or equivalent);

Duties:

NLC’s Early Childhood Education and Care Diploma students develop the knowledge and skills necessary to work with young children and their families in diverse early learning settings in British Columbia. Students may complete both programs within their own community through a variety of formats: teleconferencing, video-conferencing and on-line delivery. The remaining courses are online only.

Faculty are expected to participate in monthly Faculty meetings via video-conferencing, engage in program committee work, curriculum development, ongoing relevant professional development, and in related college and program initiatives where appropriate, such as advising, recruitment, and admissions.
