Qualifications:

Successful candidates for this position will be required to meet the following requirements:

  • Health assessment based on the job requirements.
  • Criminal record check by the Ministry of Public Safety and Solicitor General as required under the Criminal Records Review Act.
  • Possess a valid BC Class 5 (or better) Driver’s License.
  • Meet eligibility requirement to successfully complete the AAMVA Driver Examiner Certificate Program.
  • Must be eligible for a BC Class 1 Learners License.
Duties:

Are you a great driver? Do you have exceptional knowledge of the rules of the road? We have an excellent opportunity to take on a unique career as a Driver Examiner.

Your key focus will be to conduct road tests and determine the knowledge and ability of drivers to safely operate all types of Motor Vehicles (License Classes 1-8).You will also be trained to drive a follow vehicle for motorcycle tests.

The driver examiner position involves working in all weather conditions including extreme cold and extreme heat.

To meet the challenges of this role you will have demonstrated your ability to:

  • Clearly and thoroughly explain detailed information (licensing policies and road test results) to customers in a respectful and professional manner.
  • Be a patient and active listener able to navigate a variety of challenging customer interactions.

  • Be a self-starter in order to work with both independent and structured work environments.

Qualifications:

You will be responsible for operational program delivery, financial management, human resource management, business planning, change management, project management, statutory and delegated decision-making, issue resolution, inter­ and intra-agency coordination, stakeholder and First Nation relations and client service.
