Wages:

Classification 8, $38,567.49 - 39,760.29 annually, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement.  Security personnel are also paid $0.65/hr for evening shift differential and an additional weekend stipend for shifts that are applicable.  Northern Lights College offers a competitive extended health and dental benefit package, and MSP is employer paid.  Full time employees receive 119 hours of vacation annually, pro-rated and front loaded.

Qualifications:

• Completion of Grade 12 with formal security training (i.e. Justice Institute), and experience, are required.
• The successful candidate must be bondable and hold a valid Class 5 Driver’s License.
• Individuals must be able to work with minimal supervision and be physically fit.
• The ability to effectively manage and resolve conflict demonstrating tact and diplomacy is also required.
• Must demonstrate the ability to communicate and serve the public, having excellent interpersonal skills and being an effective team member.
• A supportive attitude to students and a firm commitment to fostering a student-centered environment are expected.
• Experience in general maintenance is an asset.

Duties:

• Primary function is to provide access to authorized users of College facilities and keep College property secure. 
• This candidate will also be a member of the facilities team by performing minor maintenance tasks as assigned during his/her shift. 
• Monitor activity, patrol campus, provide information, direction, and security to the public, using tact and diplomacy. 
• This position will also be required to operate machinery and equipment related to the duties.
• Evening shift is 4:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m. on a rotating schedule.
