CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Performs any combination of following duties to assist workers in welding, brazing, and thermal and arc cutting activities: Moves and gathers workpieces, tools, and supplies, manually or by handtruck.

  • Lifts, moves and holds, or clamps workpieces to table, into jigs, or into position as directed, manually or by using hoist, pry bars, wrenches, hammer, and wedges.

  • Cleans workpieces to remove impurities, such as slag, rust, and grease, using wire brush, portable grinder, hand scraper, or chemical solutions.

  • Connects hoses from hand torch to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders or connects cables from power source to electrode holder and workpiece or fixture.

  • Starts gasoline engine to activate electric generators.

Strike's labourers assist skilled trades persons and perform labour activities at our construction and project site.

  • Identify and report hazards or unsafe work practices.

  • Fuel equipment when needed.

  • Clean construction work areas.

  • Work with equipment operators and civil crew to complete grade and excavation work.

  • Assist pipefitters and welders with their work.

  • Assist heavy equipment operators to secure attachments to equipment, signal operators to guide them in safely moving equipment and provide assistance in other activities.

  • Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed.

  • Erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks shoring and barricades required at construction sites.

  • Participate in pre-job toolbox meetings to identify potential hazards and measures to eliminate or minimize them.

  • Correct unsafe acts and bring unsafe conditions to the attention of the immediate supervisor.

  • Return tools (clean) back to the proper area after the job is complete or at the end of the shift.

  • Ensure the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment while performing tasks.
