Job Title:

Health Care Assistant and Practical Nursing Instructor

Wages:

$36.24-45.17/hr, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Licensed Practical Nurse Certificate or Diploma, and/or Bachelor of Science in Nursing.

  • Full practicing licensure with College of Licensed Practical Nurses BC or practicing registration with College of Registered Nurses BC.

  • Three to five years of recent and relevant Canadian Nursing experience that includes care of elderly adults in long-term, complex-care settings.

  • Experience teaching adults or readiness to undertake a credential in adult education from an accredited post-secondary institution.

  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral.

  • Ability to work as a team member.

Duties:

NLC's Health Care Assistant and Practical Nursing programs require temporary, part-time instructors to deliver the following courses in the Fall 2017 semester:

  • HCAT 124 Personal Care and Assistance: team instruction in labs.

  • PNUR 115 Integrating Nursing Practice 1: team instruction in labs .

  • Additional assignments as required.

Maintenance Worker II

Salary Range $19.03-$25.64 per hour. Additional salary incentives and an attractive benefit package are also available.

Qualifications:
  • The ideal candidate will have:

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Possess an Arena Icemaker Certificate and Pool Operator Level 1& 2 Certificates.

  • Possess an Ice Facilities Operator Certificate or a 6th Class Power Engineering Certificate combined with 2-5 years of recreation experience.

  • Clean criminal record check with a vulnerable sector screening is also required.

  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and Abstract.

Duties:
  • Perform skilled mechanical repairs to municipal equipment throughout the District as requested.

  • Primary responsibility will involve performing semi-skilled work involving building and municipal grounds maintenance/repairs, general janitorial duties as well as routine ice and pool plant servicing.

  • Work can involve operating of heavy and light equipment in a variety of indoor and outdoor settings.
