Core Requirements

  • Accounting degree/designation.
  • Automotive knowledge and experience are preferred but not required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and in writing.

Bannister Ford is looking for an Automotive Controller in Dawson Creek.  This position is a key part of the management team within the dealership and requires a committed, detail-oriented individual who enjoys working with others. The position is available due to the coming retirement of our current controller and we are looking to fill the position with time for on the job training.  Leading our Administration team, the ideal candidate will be responsible for our accounting functions and will have experience in the automotive industry or a degree/diploma in the accounting field. Areas of Responsibility

  • Responsible for the accuracy of the monthly accounting data.
  • Prepare all internal and manufacturer financial statements.
  • Analyze statements and reports to highlight areas of concern/opportunity.
  • Provide financial analysis support to management team including custom internal reports.
  • Comply with all local, provincial, and federal departments filings and ensure remittance requirements are accurate and paid on time (GST, PST, Payroll Tax etc.).
  • Supervise accounting and clerical staff.
  • Manage HR functions and documentation requirements.
  • Manage cash control and banking activities.
  • Oversee the timely collection of all types of Accounts Receivable.
  • Prepare year end documentation for External Audit.
  • Maintenance and review of all accounts and schedules monthly to ensure accuracy.
  • Prepare all necessary monthly accruals and adjustments.
  • Manage the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Manage changes and oversee the management information system (CDK) for the dealership.
  • Oversee all aspects of information systems within the dealership and liaise with external IT company to ensure the stability/functionality of internal network.
  • Identify ways to improve operations and maximize efficiencies. 
  • Communicate and coordinate with Sales, Service, and Parts Departments to ensure a high level of service is attained. 
  • Maintain mandatory position and regulatory knowledge base by completing all compulsory and recommended training and certifications within required time frames.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and mannerism.
  • Other projects and assignments as requested.
