Bookkeeper - Entry Level

Wage determined based on education and experience

  • High school completion.
  • Two years of related office experience.
  • Completion of a certificate in bookkeeping or related experience is an asset.

Job Skills and Abilities:

  • Basic bookkeeping skills and strong aptitude for bookkeeping.
  • Experience with data entry of payables and receivables.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of bookkeeping software an asset.
  • Ability to deal with clients in a professional manner.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.


Under the direction of the Financial Administrator of the Nawican Friendship Centre, the Bookkeeper will be responsible for all phases of financial data entry for the Centre.  Accuracy, efficiency and integrity are essential.  The Bookkeeper will be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal controls, maintenance of accounting systems and following policies set out in the Financial Procedures Manual.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Full-cycle bookkeeping.
  • Maintain accurate financial records.
  • Payroll.
  • AP & AR.
  • Bank, credit card & cash reconciliation and adjustments.
  • Government reporting.
  • General Ledger entries.
  • Monthly, quarterly and yearly financial reporting.
  • Prepare bank deposits.
  • Preparation of year-end for accountant.
