Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

  • No less than three (3) years’ experience in the following areas:
    • General building and equipment repair and maintenance
    • Construction
    • Waste management site maintenance
    • Parks maintenance
    • Vehicle preventative maintenance
    • Working in a service environment and dealing with the general public
  • Basic skills in painting, welding and carpentry.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a courteous and helpful manner.
  • Ability to clearly communicate with supervisor, both orally and writing.
  • Computer skills and digital calendar abilities are desirable.
  • Ability to independently carry out the work to be performed as instructed by the supervisor.
  • Good knowledge of regional geography.
  • A British Columbia Class 5 Drivers License and current abstract. Heavy Trailer Endorsement 20 is desirable.
  • Basic First Aid Training certification desirable.
  • Skid steer operations and picker certification is desirable.
  • Chain saw operation.
Duties:
  • Maintains the skills and ability to build or construct structures such as toilets, trails, fences, concrete boat launches, fresh water spring systems, landfill ramps, access roads and other structures, as required.
  • Purchases materials and supplies, as approved by the FSWF.
  • Ensures that vehicles, equipment and buildings are maintained, records all information related to vehicle and building maintenance, and reports to the FSWF of any work done, or needed to be done.
  • Removes snow and ice from Regional District properties, as required.
  • Where required maintains and performs minor repairs and maintenance of PRRD infrastructure such as:
    • freshwater spring systems apparatus
    • solid waste disposal equipment and site works
    • sewer system apparatus
    • recreation facilities and apparatus
    • other Regional District properties.
  • Provides information about the functioning of sewer and water systems, which may include taking samples, and monitoring operations as required.
  • Prepares reports of daily inspections, and provides oral and written reports to supervisory personnel about maintenance projects and work to be done.
  • Carries out other duties as required.

Wages:

$36.24 - $45.17, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement.  Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hour in lieu of benefits, 6% vacation pay and 4.2% statutory holiday pay included with each pay.

Qualifications:

Required

  • Completion of an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing program;
  • A current, practicing license with the College of Registered Nurses of BC;  
  • Three to five years (full time equivalent) of recent and relevant Canadian Nursing experience;
  • Excellent communications skills, both written and oral;
  • Ability to work as a team member; and
  • Proficiency and experience in word processing, PowerPoint, learning management systems, and other forms of computer-based education and communication.

Preferred

  • Experience and/or formal accreditation in teaching adults (i.e., completion of the Provincial Instructor’s Diploma Program).
