$84,523.00 - $112,697.00 annually, depending on experience and qualifications as per NLC’s excluded classification scale.  An excellent benefit package is offered, including extended health and dental benefits.   Vacation entitlement will be pro-rated based on full time equivalency (210 hrs /year).

  • Relevant Bachelor’s degree in computer systems or business administration or equivalent, Master’s degree preferred. 
  • The candidate must have more than five years’ management experience in a computer services or technology department with experience in an educational setting. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Required knowledge and skills:

  • Broad technical knowledge and skills, with ability to demonstrate thorough knowledge and understanding of current digital strategies and emerging technologies.
  • Experience with major ERP systems. Northern Lights College is a Colleague environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of the College including faculty, staff, and students.
  • Excellent communication skills, including verbal, interpersonal, written and presentation.
  • Proven excellence in the areas of critical thinking, innovation, change management and customer service.
  • Ability to work in complex multi-campus organization.
  • Ability to work collaboratively, develop innovative solutions and lead change in a positive and inclusive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and articulate a realistic vision for organizational growth.
  • Experience working in a systems environment including implementation, development and maintenance of a variety of IT systems and technical infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated understanding of program management requirements including budget development, analysis and forecasting, contract management, procurement, inventory control and project implementation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage concurrent issues and projects while taking into consideration changing priorities and deadlines, impacts of decisions and conflicting demands.
  • Exceptional project management skills as demonstrated through effective ability to organize, delegate, multi-task and balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Demonstrated ability to react effectively in controversial and challenging situations and make effective decisions.
  • Demonstrated experience managing procurement processes and partnering with vendors and other organizations including creating, executing and ensuring the quality of requests for proposals and response, statements of work, and contracts.

Reporting to the Vice-President, Finance & Corporate Services, the Chief Information Officer (CIO) creates and executes the Information Technology strategy, policies and standards that support the long-term objectives, mission and vision of Northern Lights College. The CIO is responsible for the overall management of information systems and services, enterprise software and infrastructure, desktop computing support, and technical services (networks and telecommunications). 

Through collaboration and consultation, the CIO develops and implements the department’s comprehensive IT plan for acquiring and deploying information technology resources. The CIO is responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, coordination, and administration of integrated information and computing services for students, faculty and staff.
