Job Title:

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and three to five years relevant work experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of accounting practices in the public sector, including grant and fund accounting; budget analysis; preparation of financial statements; internal auditing of transactions; accounting software; and, general supervisory practices.
Duties:

The financial controller is responsible for overseeing the completion of internal control audits and facilitating necessary changes or identifying potential errors. The controller also manages fiscal operations and has responsibilities that include:

  • Monitoring and controlling cash flow.
  • Forecasting revenues and expenditures.
  • Developing and maintaining a company’s financial policies and procedures.
  • Creating and completing financial reporting systems(daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly/annual).
  • Selection and maintenance of financial software.
  • Overseeing payroll and accounts receivable and payable.
  • Completing audits and financial compliance activities.
  • Monitoring debt/credit.
  • Overseeing payroll and benefits.
  • Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration.
  • Managing any outsourced financial activities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Prepare or oversee the preparation and review of financial statements, reconciliations, and reports related to the Nation’s financial affairs; provide information, specific analysis, and appropriate training to others.
  • Review account activities on funds to ensure accuracy and conformity. Notify appropriate persons and/or take corrective actions as necessary. Review and strengthen financial and accounting internal controls to ensure protection of the Nation’s financial resources. Formulate and enforce policies and procedures regarding Nation’s cash disbursements.
  • Build trusting relationships by acting with integrity, courtesy, and responsibility, even in the face of stress or demanding workplace conditions. Strong teamwork skills.
