Job Title:

Heavy Equipment Trainer

Qualifications:
  • Certified Training Practitioner (CTP) or Certified Training and Development Professional (CTDP) Certification is desirable or experience training on heavy equipment.
  • 5-10 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in a heavy industrial/mining environment (preferably open pit mining).

Skills and Abilities

  • Requires experience in best practice safety, mining, and maintenance methodologies to manage the activities involved in the assessment, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training of equipment operators.
  • Experienced in conducting thorough assessment for employee sign-off on equipment: 250 Ton Haul Trucks, Graders, Drills, Dozers, Shovels, Excavators and other mine equipment.
  • Proven competency in Training and Assessment methods and techniques to Canadian Mining standards.
  • Good computing skills using MS Office products.
  • Mine rescue experience is preferred.
  • Superb interpersonal skills with a supportive, positive approach to training.
Duties:

The Heavy Equipment Trainer will be responsible for the training, follow-up, and record keeping for mining equipment operators. This is a hands-on position that requires experience in best practice safety, mining, and maintenance methodologies to manage the activities involved in the assessment, design, delivery, implementation and evaluation of training and development programs for Conuma Coal Resources Mining Operation in Northeast BC. The focus will be Operational Excellence ensuring the skills of the workforce meet and exceed industry and manufacturer best practices.

  • A Diploma in Survey Technician or Survey Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Previous field surveying experience is an asset.
  • Experience with GPS equipment and surveying software.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to use survey instruments and survey.
  • Knowledge and experience using a total station and GPS.
  • Effective time management, planning and communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and adapt to changing priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain a calm focus during hectic periods.
  • Able to work independently as well as function as an effective team member.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer.

The objective for this role is to support the operations in achieving targets by completing survey activities including the layout and pickup of drilling, blasting and digging areas.
