Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with a diploma in Social work or related discipline and related work experience.

The successful applicant must possess:

  • Ability to understand and work with a diverse socio-economic client group.

  • Working knowledge of employment assistance services.

  • Ability to multi task in a busy environment.

  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Word and the Integrated Case Management System data base.

  • Commitment and experience taking initiative within a team setting.

  • Excellent communication and strong public relation skills.

  • Writing, word processing and proofreading skills, especially related to resume and cover letter preparation.

  • Capacity to complete required documentation and reporting in a timely manner.

  • Strong belief in professional accountability.

  • Must provide a current Criminal Records Check.

Duties:

Reporting to the Program Co-ordinator of WorkBC Job Search & Support Services, the Employment Consultant will be responsible for providing job seekers with employment related resources and information.

Some duties will be to post daily updates of employment opportunities in the area, provide telephone and fax service to clients making contact with employers, provide message service for clients, provide support to clients using the resume and internet computers, keep labour market information and other resources up to date and available to clients, liaise with local employers and other service providers within the community and make appointments for clients to attend information sessions and employment counselling services. Adept at keeping accurate database documentation and records.
