A competitive salary in the range of $80,000 to $85,000 per annum and an extensive benefit package is provided.


The successful candidate will have experience in the management of recreation facilities preferably in a unionized environment including:

  • Leading a large staff complement;
  • Ability to deal with senior administrative staff, community groups, Boards and Commissions and the general public in a professional manner;
  • Must demonstrate strong supervisory, organizational, problem-solving and written and verbal communication skills;
  • Have the ability to work effectively within and foster a team environment;
  • Experience in working with volunteers and knowledge of volunteer development;
  • Display exceptional customer service and public relations skills;
  • Have thorough knowledge of aquatic administration programs, equipment and facilities requirements;
  • Have an understanding of current financial management techniques and principles;
  • Have experience with MS Office Software.
  • A degree or diploma in recreation management and three to five years’ experience in recreation administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience in a similar position and a good knowledge of facility maintenance principles and systems will be considered assets.
  • A criminal record search is mandatory for the position.

Chetwynd is located in the foothills of the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains in the Peace River area. Chetwynd is currently experiencing strong industrial growth. Reporting to the Director of Parks & Recreation, the Manager of Leisure and Facility Services is responsible primarily for the overall management and supervision of the Chetwynd and District Leisure Pool, facility programming and administration of the Chetwynd and District Rec Centre Facilities.

This position is responsible for the planning, organizing, directing and controlling the daily and long term operations of the Chetwynd and District Rec Centre’s programs and services. This position requires independent judgment and supervisory skills.
