Qualifications:

An exceptional career opportunity exists for a leader to assume the role of Library Director of the Chetwynd Public Library. The Chetwynd Public Library has a team of 9 full time and part time employees who are responsible for the over 60,000 annual visits per to the facility.

The Chetwynd Public Library is seeking an outstanding leader who will bring a proven reputation of success within a progressive library. The incumbent should be focused on collaboration, empowerment and demonstrating excellent communication skills with both the employees, board and the public. We are looking for someone who will inspire a culture of discovery, creativity and connection within the Library and in the community.

The ideal candidate holds a Master's Degree in Library and Information Studies/Science, has several years of senior management experience in a public library setting, and possesses strong financial, human resources, communication and project management skills. In addition, strong community engagement and labour relations experience is preferred. A recognized Business Administration Degree or Library and Information Technology Diploma with related experience will also be considered. Relevant experience and familiarity with a non-profit organization is essential. Business, financial, administrative and library management experience is preferred.

Duties:

Under the direction of the Library Board of Trustees, the Library Director develops, administers, supervises, and coordinates the work of the Library and staff. The Library Director also performs managerial duties related to strategic planning, programming, human resources, marketing, community development, budget, collection development, building maintenance, and library operations and services in conformity of the policies established by the Board of Trustees and the regulations of the Chetwynd Public Library. The Library Director is responsible for providing strategic leadership and vision to the organization and leveraging high quality public library service to enhance community development. The Library Director is also Secretary of the Board. The Library Director is also an important figure in the community, a cornerstone of the advocacy strategy and engages with a number of external stakeholders that contribute to the success of the Chetwynd Public Library.
