Full/Part-time: Fulltime Temporary (Maternity leave - until the return of the incumbent)
Hours of Work: 35 hours per week.  On call 24/7 for emergencies only. (Note: this may change and not be required.)

Job Title: Foster Parent Recruitment, Retention & Support Regional Coordinator
Starting Date: ASAP
Wages: Hourly Rate: $26.59 - $30.98 depending on experience. Full benefits and pension. Plus on call pay. This position is open to male and female applicants and requires union membership.
  • Must be comfortable with training groups of Foster Parents, giving presentations etc. and using the necessary software and technology to achieve this.
  • Must be prepared to have flexible hours to accommodate travel, evening meetings and emergency calls. Regular travel to the communities is required.
  • Vehicle Use: This position requires that you use your personal vehicle for travel in the region as needed. Mileage to be reimbursed. Travel will be frequent with monthly trips to Fort Nelson, bi-monthly to Dawson and Chetwynd. You must have a valid Drivers License and current abstract.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or a related human/social service field.
  • Minimum 2 year's experience in foster care, or as a resource worker, family preservation worker, family counselor or foster parent.
  • Relevant experience and education may be considered.
  • Must have excellent communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Experience working with Aboriginal communities is preferred.
  • Ability to operate a PC and related software.
Duties: Works in collaboration with MCFD to recruit, train, support and retain Foster Parents in Fort St John, Dawson Creek, Chetwynd, Fort Nelson and aboriginal communities. Will provide training for foster parents and or arrange for Training. Plan recruitment and retention activities in conjunction with MCFD staff. Will support Foster Parents in any investigative proceedings according to established protocols. Must update and maintain the website for Foster Parents and produce a quarterly Newsletter.
