Job Title: Senior Mechanical Services Worker
Starting Date: ASAP
Wages: Classification 17, $32.70 - $33.71 per hour, as per the BCGEU Support Collective Agreement. Temporary employees receive an additional $0.50/hr in lieu of benefits and 6% vacation pay with each pay period.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of three years experience in HVAC, Fifth Class Power Engineer required, Plumber/gas fitting certificate preferred or equivalent experience in the field would be considered.
  • Experience with biomass boiler system would be an asset.
  • Require knowledge of electrical and computer operated (reliable controls) DDC heating and cooling systems.
  • The ability to work in confined spaces and to have height tolerance is required.
  • Must be able to work independently and have excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Willing to take additional courses relating to the position.
  • Experience in a maintenance function and the ability to work as an effective team member are essential.
  • Must hold a minimum of a valid BC Class 5 Drivers License.
Duties:
  • The duties will be to carry out preventive maintenance and servicing for campus heating, ventilation, and plumbing, refrigeration and hot water systems in order to maintain continuous function.
  • Will also be required to perform maintenance work on buildings, grounds and equipment, must be capable of operating mobile equipment such as tractors, loaders and forklifts.

This position may be based out of either Fort St John or Dawson Creek, but would be expected to travel to surrounding NLC campuses when the need arises.

Job Title: University Arts & Sciences Instructor
Starting Date: August 14, 2017
Wages: $46,579.50 - $52,846.50 starting annual salary, depending on experience and qualifications as per the BCGEU Faculty Collective Agreement. We offer a competitive benefit package; College Pension Plan enrollment; 180 hours of vacation time per year -- front loaded and pro-rated, as well as paid time off between the Christmas and New Year's Day period; and scheduled increments up to a maximum of $68,136.75 annually.
Qualifications:
  • The required minimum educational qualification is a Master's Degree in History or Political Science with a focus on Canada, or a Master's Degree in a related discipline with a focus on Canadian political and historical content.
  • Experience teaching at the post-secondary level is preferred.
  • Preference will also be given to candidates whose post-graduate education provides strong evidence of interdisciplinary breadth and to candidates who possess additional, relevant work experience beyond the classroom.
Duties: NLC's University Arts and Sciences program on the Dawson Creek campus requires an instructor to deliver courses across the Humanities, including, but not limited to, History, Political Science, First Nations Studies, and Philosophy (Critical Thinking).
