Duties: The Kiwanis Performing Arts Centre (KPAC) is operated by a not-for-profit society whose mandate is to enhance the performing arts and related cultural industries within the region and to operate the Kiwanis Child Care Centre.

The performing arts programs include lessons in dance (tap, jazz, hip hop, and ballet), music (piano, guitar, and violin). These programs include presenting performances and festivals throughout the year.

The Calvin Kruk Performing Arts Centre includes a 184-seat theatre, the Kiwanis Child Care Centre, the independently operated Juice Five O cafe, community meeting rooms, space for community groups and guilds and the South Peace Historical Society archives.

Key Responsibilities, Performing Arts Centre and Child Care Centre:

  • Human resources manager for full and part time staff, instructors, parents and students.
  • License holder for the Kiwanis Child Care Centre.
  • Keep a calendar of events and ensure KPAC programs are delivered in a professional manner.
  • Report monthly to KPAC Board of Directors.
  • Develop budgets for Board approval.
  • Supervise the operations of the Kiwanis Child Care Centre.
  • Supervise sub-tenants and facility renters.
  • Research funding opportunities and develop grant applications.

Community Liaison:

  • Work with the City of Dawson Creek to maintain the facility.
  • Public presentations at KPAC events and community groups.
  • Promote KPAC programs and community events in local media.
  • Coordinate and develop annual events such as but not limited to the Peace River South Festival of the Arts, the Scholarship program and the ArtStarts program with School District 59.
  • Maintain a strong relationship with local arts groups and the Peace Liard Regional Arts Council.
